Jessie’s Mug Shot

4 July, 2016

This photo (1913) at Darlinghurst Prison, shows more neckline and her clothing.  People did not smile for photos in those days, as they needed to stay very still for a long time, while the image was captured. Nevertheless you can see quite a determined look!

Jessie McIntyre alias for Jessie Hickman (nee Hunt)

Colin Jones

28 January, 2015

Colin Jones provided some great story context for the LADY BUSHRANGER and photos of the gun she left in her cave. He had previously re-created Jessie’s cave in the Kandos Museum and was able to provide me with a photo of her gun left in the cave.

Pat Studdy-Clift; author of the book “The Lady Bushranger”

25 January, 2015

Author of the book THE LADY BUSHRANGER, Pat Studdy-Clift, is providing me with wonderful background stories. Her book was published when she was 73 yrs. Although now blind at 88 yrs, she is truly inspirational. I filmed her over a 5 day visit to Lismore.

Dusty Horses

20 January, 2015

My mate Grimee (Mr Grimshaw) took me to film some dusty horses; in the area Jessie roamed. The dark one near the tree had a very long mane dangling.

Jessie’s Table From the Cave!

20 January, 2015

Serendipity; 1.5 hours looking for accommodation in Rylstone after leaving Capertee, I finally found a room at Tree Tops. In his shed Mr Bowles had a surprise to show me; one that his grandmother-in-law stored at her home for many years. It was the table she had taken from Jessie’s cave on Nullo Mountain! I think it will eventually end up in the local museum.IMG_0871

Horse Stud – Eurella

20 January, 2015

Lyn Richardson has been contributing horsey information. Her daughter Courtney is a fine horsewoman who rode for me so I could get some horse shots! Some very skilled people cattle farming in this beautiful Capertee Canyon.

Jessie’s Carpetbag Frame near Bogee River

20 January, 2015

News! Jessie’s carpetbag frame is found at one of her hideouts. While interviewing Ian Grimshaw (5th generation farmer at Capertee) on the site of Jessie’s hideout on the Bogee River, Ian picked up a peice of rusty tin and reckons this would be a traveling carpetbag she left there. Amazing day. Will post the interview later.  I took it into town and its been catalogued for the Kandos Historical Society. When I asked Ian how he knew it was a woman’s bag frame; he said with a dry crawl – that he would not want to be seen carrying that sort of bag!
